Travel Wallpaper – October 2009 – Bryce National Park

This photo is of Thor’s Hammer and the surrounding hoodoos at Bryce National Park. You will often hear people refer to “Bryce canyon” but Bryce is not a canyon. It is at high elevation and the limestone has been warn away over the years. The spires of Bryce have a harder dolomite cap that has protected a column of limestone from erosion. Bryce is easily one of my favorite National Parks if not my favorite. My favorite hike is the Navajo trail down into the hoodoos.
