This photo is of Thor’s Hammer and the surrounding hoodoos at Bryce National Park. You will often hear people refer to “Bryce canyon” but Bryce is not a canyon. It is at high elevation and the limestone has been warn away over the years. The spires of Bryce have a harder dolomite cap that has protected a column of limestone from erosion. Bryce is easily one of my favorite National Parks if not my favorite. My favorite hike is the Navajo trail down into the hoodoos.

We talked about going to Bryce Canyon NP…it just hasn’t been in the cards yet. Wonderful photo…and thanks for the wallpaper! I guess it was about time to change from the September calendar I as my wallpaper.
